Trauma

is the word we use to describe that which severs us from our place in the web of life.

It is the lightning strike that changes our whole world in an instant.

It is the long drought, shaping us over time as we make do with less than we need, day after day.

It is wildfire season, earlier, longer, and more merciless with every year.

We are the beings who together are called forests: beings who used to have what we needed to withstand a stray firework, yearning for the rain that used to come.

Time and again, I get to see the people I work with come alive.

With over 15 years of studying and working with trauma, I bring compassion and curiosity for the ways trauma— developmental, intergenerational, and systemic— shapes our personalities, relationships, cultures, and imaginations.

Somatic. Relational. Psychodynamic. Embracing complexity. Dialectic.

Supplementing lived experience with community and training, I ensure quality, affirming care for LGBTQ+ folks seeking therapy.

While each person’s journey is different, here are some of the most common elements of our work:

We honor connection. It is true that healing is relational. It is also true that for many of us, the idea of connecting with humans lands in our nervous systems as a threat. We explore your current connections and connections that you’d like to develop, including to plants, pets, ancestors, spirit, creative expression, and more.

We get curious about your nervous system, helping you develop your capacity to notice and honor your body’s cues of danger and safety.

We go at the speed of trust, following your nervous system’s cues for pacing, not some manual.

We explore your internal world, making space for the contradictions, tending to the wounds, and strengthening attachment to that which is unshakeably you.

We make meaning. A significant portion of trauma healing happens beyond words. There will be times when you notice something in you asking to be expressed, and whether that is verbally, somatically, artistically, or otherwise, we will co-create the conditions needed for you to bring it into this world.
